The Rodney Miller Band plays traditional and original fiddle tunes from New England, Québec, and Ireland. Deeply rooted in traditional fiddle styles, they incorporate elements and influences from the many other styles of music that interest them.
Rodney Miller: fiddle. Designated an NEA “Master Fiddler in 1983, Rodney is widely considered to be the foremost exponent of New England style fiddling, a uniquely American blend of French Canadian and Celtic influences.
Paul Kotapish: mandolin, guitar. Paul’s playing is rooted in the rural fiddle traditions of Appalachia, Ireland and beyond, but it also embraces pop idioms like rock and country. He has performed with Wake the Dead, Hillbillies from Mars, Euphonia, and Open House, featuring noted Irish fiddler Kevin Burke.
Daniel Steinberg: piano, flute. He plays with the contra dance band Hillbillies from Mars, Brazilian pífanos with the forró band Mr. Bidu’s Circus, and has performed with many luminaries of the fiddle music scene. Inspired by a gospel choir, Daniel founded three community choruses in the San Francisco Bay Area that he has directed for the past 25 years.
