Meet Ballu Singh

PJCC

Welcome Ballu Singh, new to the PJCC Fitness Team!

Ballu’s got a well-rounded list of credentials: from advanced degrees in Physical Education, to certifications in TRX, kickboxing, group training, and cycling, and beyond. He’s also a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Performance Enhancement Specialist—meaning he’s a super-pro at helping clients achieve peak performance via strength and conditioning training.

With that bona fide fitness background, it follows that he’s wearing a couple different hats with us at the PJCC. You can find him teaching two of our latest Group Exercise classes, Athletic Conditioning & Yoga for All—perfect for you weekend fitness fans. He’s also one of our newest Certified Personal Trainers—ready to help you achieve your personal fitness goals.

We recently caught up with Ballu and asked him a bit about his teaching and training philosophy. We think you’ll appreciate what he has to say—and get inspired by his energy and enthusiasm, as well as his methodical approach to teaching fitness!

How do you structure a typical class?

I strive to make the class experience one of continuous movement and flow. Therefore, I follow a standard format with three basic (but key) elements: warmup, the main workout, and cooldown.

1. Warm up: During this portion of the workout, I include range-of-motion exercises that incorporate light cardio. I also observe students and work to ensure that they understand fundamentals, such as how to bend while squatting, and how to perform basic workout angles. Sometimes, I include foam rolling as well.

2. Main workout: Here, I focus on a balanced combination of a variety of exercises and movements, including push & pull strength training, core and balance exercises, and functional training.

3. Cooldown: This is a vital end to the workout! In my class, you’ll experience stretches for all working muscles—primarily the hamstrings, quadriceps, hip flexors, gluteus, and spine, with other muscles accounted for as well.

What else can we expect when we attend your class?

A little of everything: Education, demos, challenges, and a bit of entertainment! And yes, sometimes, I get a little loud, with the goal of motivating everyone.

Overall, your safety is always my number-one focus!

And I guarantee, everyone who attends will have something to work on!

What are you working on yourself?

How to rest. I’m still learning. 😊
