SUMMARY:Tisha B'Av Services
DESCRIPTION:Tisha B’av (The Ninth of Av) is a day of mourning and fasting. The holiday commemorates various tragedies that befell the Jewish people throughout history\, particularly the destruction of the two temples in 586 BCE and 70 CE. \nWe chant the Scroll of Lamentations\, Megillat Eicha\, to a haunting musical pattern. Eicha chronicles the tragic destruction of Jerusalem\, yet ends with hopeful verses. Readers chant through the 5 chapters in turn\, our many voices rising in remembrance. Yet\, we find hope in sitting together. \n\nContact: Cantor Barbara Email: barbarapowell@bethjacobrwc.org or click here to learn more.

SUMMARY:Two Worlds: Deaf and Hearing Dance Duo
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss this special opportunity to witness “Two Worlds\,” which uniquely blends the world of a deaf dancer with that of a hearing dancer. This remarkable collaboration\, created by Israeli artists Jill Damti Feingold (hearing) & Amnon Damti (deaf)\, introduces audiences to a new world of silence\, dance\, pantomime\, and sign language. \nThe exhilarating performance is packed with chemistry and charisma.  Beyond the artistic experience\, the dance\, followed by Q & A\, conveys a very significant message—that everything is possible. \n“Two Worlds” has been performed globally for many years. They were named by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “Ambassadors of Culture and Acceptance”.
