SUMMARY:Living Under Water: A Jewish Exploration of Climate Change -Artist Panel
DESCRIPTION:The PJCC Art Gallery is proud to present Living Under Water: A Jewish Exploration of Change in which five talented artists consider how Jewish teachings inform our relationship and perspective on the critical issue of climate change. \nThis panel discussion will feature two of the artists behind this collaborative exhibition\, Andi Arnovitz and Lynne Avadenka.  They will be joined by Shaul Bassi\, Professor of English Literature and Environmental Humanities at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice who invited these artists to a 3-week residency in Venice in 2018 where this project was conceived. \nThe panel will be moderated by Nigel Savage\, who leads a think-and-do tank\, the Jewish Climate Trust. SUMMARY:Get Up & Go/Senior Friendship: CLASSIC 1960’S ROCK POSTERS
DESCRIPTION:Join Russ Bertetta and Rodney Paul to travel back in time and rediscover the highly original posters that publicized the innovative music at the heart of San Francisco’s rock scene. The folk-rock music of mid-1960s San Francisco included an exciting visual counterpoint: the trippy designs used to advertise musical lineups at The Fillmore and other local venues. The Posters have become a celebrated art form\, and the era is remembered not only for its psychedelic sounds but also for these fascinating and often confounding images. This lecture provides you with ways to help mine these artworks for meaning based on your own experiences and perceptions.
