DESCRIPTION:The AARP Smart Driver Course covers defensive driving techniques and the normal changes in vision\, hearing\, and reaction time associated with aging. The course provides practical techniques for adjusting to these changes to ensure the driver’s own safety and that of others on the road. Participants receive a comprehensive course workshop. Upon completion of the course\, participants receive a certificate that may entitle them for a car insurance discount for next three years. Attendance at both 4-hour Sunday sessions is required.\n\n\n\nTopics include: \n\n\n\n\nMaintaining proper following distance.\n\n\nMinimizing the effect of dangerous blind spots\n\n\nLimiting driver distractions\n\n\nProperly using safety belts\, air bags\, and all car features\n\n\nEffects of medication on driving\n\n\nMaintaining physical flexibility\n\n\nMonitoring the driving skills and capability of yourself and others\n\n\n\nCost: $20 AARP members | $25 non-AARP members\n \nDates: July 19 & 26
