Movie: The Other Son

Thursday, March 15 ● 7:00 pm

Free! Don’t miss this riveting drama about two young men, one Israeli and one Palestinian, who discover they were accidentally switched at birth. Presented in partnership with the Jewish Film Institute. Enjoy a lively discussion afterwards with facilitator Dr. Shlomi Ravid, Director of the Center for Jewish Peoplehood Education. Presented with English subtitles.


Nino Herman Art Reception

Free! Join us at 5:30 pm for appetizers, art viewing, and mingling, followed at 7:00 pm with a talk by photographer Nino Herman. The former photography editor of the Israeli newspaper Maariv will discuss his exhibit capturing four fascinating decades of Israel.

Free! Join day-long festivities celebrating Israel@70! Sample delicious Israeli foods and enjoy traditional music and videos. At 3:30 pm: special for families – a puppet show (in Hebrew and English) featuring Mitz Petel.

Schedule of Events:
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Sample a typical Israeli breakfast, listen to Israeli music, and learn about Israeli farming and gardening technologies.

12:00 – 2:00 pm: Enjoy falafel and hummus; learn about Israel’s contributions to the medical and high-tech industries.

2:00 – 3:30 pm: Join us for Israeli snacks and birthday cupcakes, learn basic Israeli dances and enjoy arts and crafts.

3:30– 4:00 pm: Prepare to laugh at our puppet show in Hebrew and English based on Mitz Petel (Raspberry Juice) – a classic Israeli children’s story.

Monday at the Movies Presents The Band’s Visit

This clever slice-of-life comedy follows eight Egyptian musicians who mistakenly arrive in a small town in Israel and overcome ethnic barriers through a pervading undercurrent of shared melancholy. Beged Kefet Kabbalat Shabbat and Open House

Enjoy a light dinner and welcome Shabbat while meeting families and teachers. Learn about this innovative afterschool program that offers Hebrew language instruction to native Hebrew and native English speakers in grades K through 12. Co-sponsored by Beged Kefet Hebrew Language Program.

IsraAID provides lifesaving emergency relief for populations affected by natural disasters, epidemics and post-conflict situations.  This compelling exhibit captures the world of IsraAID: their response to emergencies and how they support local communities around the world—from crises and disasters to rehabilitation and recovery.
