Our postoperative workout designed to enhance recovery for breast cancer patients. It’s the only program of its kind on the Peninsula!
The PJCC is proud to be the only facility on the Peninsula to offer this innovative exercise program, developed specifically to address the needs of recovering breast cancer survivors. Since its inception in 2011, our program has served over 150 women from across the Bay Area.
Whether surgery was recent or several years ago, studies show that exercise decreases the effects of fatigue, improves the quality of life, and decreases the chance of re-occurrence.
Our participants work with a Post-Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist (BCES) who will create a personalized exercise program tailored specifically to their health, fitness, and goals.
This program includes:
These individual post-operative Personal Training sessions are open to all breast cancer survivors, whether surgery was eight weeks or 20 years ago. One participant reported that when she entered the program she was unable to open a carton of milk or lift her arms over her head to put a shirt on. Upon completing the program she was able to perform these essential tasks of daily living. Another woman reported that our program “made me feel healthy rather than sick.” Trainers provide emotional support and encouragement on an individual basis, as well as evidence-based individual fitness programs.
