Featuring Lily Grunfeld, who at eighteen years old traveled from her small town in Romania to visit her sister in Hungary, never to see most of her family again. She endured the ghetto in Budapest and survived due to the efforts of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg.
At the community’s annual commemoration (hosted by Peninsula Temple Sholom on Zoom), we heard from Lily, remembered the martyrs who perished, and honored the community’s survivors. The evening included candle lighting, survivors’ biographies, prayer, and music.
