The U.S. Supreme Court currently displays historic levels of public disapproval. The Court also sits in the center of the current battle by the Trump administration to reshape our separation of powers system. Have we reached a tipping point for our political institutions generally, and for the Court specifically? I will discuss contemporary findings by researchers and the implications for such on the Court’s institutional legitimacy.
Nicholas Conway is an Associate Professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University and an Adjunct Professor of Law at University of California Law-San Francisco. His research includes the U.S. Supreme Court and public opinion, constitutional litigation, media attention to judicial decisions, and political methodology.
