Our PJCC community pays loving tribute to Lorry I. Lokey z’l: a visionary philanthropist, businessman, and our most generous friend, without whom we would not have our Foster City home.
Lorry believed passionately in a diverse and inclusive Jewish community, and the power of education to uplift hearts and minds while healing divisions of understanding. His generosity and his values are evident every day here at the PJCC, inspiring generations of people to do good for the benefit of all.
We are indebted to Lorry for his vision of a communal gathering place where everyone belongs.
May his memory be a blessing, and may we each strive to live as Lorry did — leading with generosity and unconditional friendship.
“The beauty is that the Center has become everything we wanted it to be… you have all religions here… it’s a community that’s building lives. This is what I am interested in.”
— Lorry Lokey in 2018, upon the PJCC’s 70th anniversary
