Exercise your brain with Mind Sharpener™, a 24-session in-person class comprised of fun and engaging activities designed to stimulate the six major cognitive areas of the brain and keep your brain healthy and strong.

The Mind Sharpener™ program, developed by the New England Cognitive Center, has been recognized by the American Society of Aging.

This program is presented by JFCS in partnership with PJCC.

Instructors:

Joanne Robinson-Teran, MS, is a Geriatric Care Manager with Seniors At Home. She holds a MS in counseling, and bachelor’s degrees in Gerontology and Psychology from California State University, Sacramento. Joanne specializes in connecting clients, their families and their care partners with essential resources and support services. She has worked with UCSF Memory and Aging Center and other organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association and Family Caregiver Alliance, developing innovative programs, presenting educational classes, and facilitating support groups. Joanne enjoys working with clients to identify their needs and strengths, assist them with accessing services, and coordinate their care.

Andrea Korsunsky, BSW, is the director of Care Management at Seniors At Home, JFCS. A respected thought leader with over 20 years of experience in social work—and more than 20 years dedicated specifically to dementia care—Andrea is deeply committed to empowering individuals to live with dignity, autonomy, and purpose throughout the aging process. Her work is rooted in the belief that honoring each person’s independence is essential to fostering a meaningful life, even in the face of cognitive decline. In addition to her clinical leadership, Andrea is a sought-after educator and trainer, offering expertise to a wide range of professionals on best practices in care management. Her influence continues to shape how communities, caregivers, and professionals approach aging and memory loss with respect, innovation, and empathy.
