Larisa Vaserman was born in Kiev and emigrated to America in 1989 as a political refugee. She developed a passion for beads and semi-precious stones from which she designed jewelry. At first it was just a hobby, but turned into a serious occupation when she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety in 1998, and then later with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2003 she had to leave her job as Senior Programmer Analyst because the progressive Multiple Sclerosis resulted in permanent disability. Since then her art has been her therapy.
Larisa was especially honored to be accepted as one of the artists for the Disney Hall store of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. Today she advocates for disability rights and participates in several art exhibits and showcases.
