Nicola Burt is an experienced fundraising strategist with more than two decades of leadership in the philanthropic sector. Since 2015, she has been advancing the Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s mission through increasingly senior roles and now serves as the organization’s Chief Development Officer.
A relationship-driven leader, Nicola has been central to strengthening donor engagement, shaping major initiatives, and elevating the culture of philanthropy across the organization. She played an essential role in building the Chai Society leadership giving program and guiding it through its 10-year evolution, and she has consistently introduced strategic approaches that deepen donor connection and support organizational priorities. Her work spans individual, legacy, and institutional giving, stewardship, campaign design, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Nicola is deeply committed to partnership with board members and lay leaders, working closely to align philanthropic strategies with PJCC’s goals and to cultivate meaningful relationships across the community. Her thoughtful approach and collaborative style have made her a trusted advisor to colleagues and volunteers.
Before joining the PJCC, Nicola spent 12 years at The Asia Foundation in key fundraising and organizational roles, including launching the organization’s first Annual Fund campaign, managing donor operations, and providing interim leadership during transitions. She also brings an international and cross-cultural perspective from her early career with the Embassy of Japan and the JET Program.
Nicola holds a master’s degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from the College of William & Mary. She has been recognized with multiple professional awards and is an active volunteer in the school community.
Nicola’s family has been members of the PJCC since moving to Foster City from San Francisco in 2014. From their first experience in the PJCC’s swim program, they have been active participants at the Center—regularly attending programs, working out, and making lasting friendships.
As CDO, Nicola leads with integrity, strategic insight, and a deep belief in the PJCC’s mission—championing the relationships, resources, and vision needed to propel the organization into its next chapter.
