“בגד כפת” מציע מסלול מיוחד לתלמידים שאינם דוברי עברית. הכוונה לתלמידים שאינם מדברים בעברית בעצמם בבית, עם חברים או במסגרות אחרות. ההוראה בכיתות מתבצעת בעברית, ברמה ובשטף המתאימים לתלמידים שאינם דוברים את השפה.
תוכנית הלימודים מתבססת על תוכנית “חלב ודבש” בכיתת הגן, תוכנית “ניצנים” בכיתת ראשית הקריאה ובכיתת ממשיכי קריאה ילמדו מתוכניות הלימוד העדכניות ביותר: “עברית בקליק” ו”חברים בעברית”.
כיתת גן לתלמידים שאינם דוברי עברית
תוכנית זו מיועדת לתלמידים העולים לגן חובה שאינם דוברי עברית. המפגשים יערכו פעם בשבוע, וימשכו שעה וחצי. התכנית מתמקדת בהוראת השפה תוך שיח בעברית, משחק ושירה. בנוסף, יושם דגש על הכרת ההווי והתרבות היהודיים/ישראלים, חגים ומועדים. המפגשים יכללו מגוון רחב של פעילויות חווייתיות ויצירתיות באווירת גן. בנוסף למפגשים הקבועים, יתקיימו במהלך השנה מספר פעילויות משפחתיות, במהלך השנה לקראת החגים.
תוכנית הלימודים “חלב ודבש” נכתבה במיוחד לילדים, שזהו להם המפגש הראשון עם השפה העברית. כעת היא בשימוש ביותר משמונה מאות כיתות גן ברחבי תבל. התוכנית כוללת חוברות הדרכה לגננת, ספרים, משחקים, כרטיסים מאוירים ומוסיקה.
חלק אינטגרלי של התכנית ומשתתף בשיעורים הוא בנצי. בנצי הוא בובת צב שבאה מישראל לבקר את הילדים וללמד אותם עברית. הוא מבין ומדבר רק בעברית ומלווה את מפגשי העברית במהלך התכנית. בנצי שובב, סקרן, שואל הרבה שאלות. הוא אינו חושש לטעות ובעיקר – הוא חביב ומשעשע.
בנצי נוצר מתוך השאיפה שלימוד העברית יתרחש באווירה של תקשורת משעשעת, מהנה והולמת מבחינה התפתחותית. בנצי מעניק לילדים הזדמנות להשתמש בעברית שהם למדו גם מחוץ למסגרת של מפגשי העברית בגן. המורות מעודדות את הילדים לשלב את בנצי במשחקיהם בגן ולדבר איתו בעברית. כאשר הילדים מארחים את בנצי בביתם בסוף השבוע הם משתפים גם את המשפחה בחוויותיהם בלימוד העברית.

כיתת א’-ג’ לתלמידים שאינם דוברי עברית
תכנית בכיתה זו, בהמשך לכיתת הגן, נועדה לסייע בצעדים הראשונים של רכישת השפה ומטרתה לטפח את הכישורים והמיומנויות הנדרשים לכך. התוכנית והעיקרון החינוכי העומד בבסיס התכנית הוא השילוב בין גישות חדישות בהוראת השפה, עולם התוכן הרלוונטי לילדים, והעולם היהודי הסובב אותם. התכנית מתמקדת בנושאים מתחומי היהדות ומחיי היום-יום של הילדים.
יעדים ושיטות: הכרת אותיות הדפוס, ראשית קריאה (תנועות ועיצורים, מילים קצרות, משפטים), הקניית אוצר מילים ומבעים בנושאים שונים בצורה חוויתית ואינטראקטיבית.
חומרי הלימוד: ניצנים 1,2 ספרוני ראשית קריאה.
נושאים נוספים: חגים (מהות החג וסמליו) ישראל ועוד.
בנוסף, יושם דגש על הכרת ההווי והתרבות היהודיים/ישראלים, חגים ומועדים. הלמידה תכלול מגוון רחב של פעילויות חווייתיות ויצירתיות. לצד תוכנית הלימודים, בכוונתנו ליצור אווירה מיוחדת בין ילדי הקבוצה ומשפחותיהם, באמצעות פעילויות משותפות, חופשיות ומובנות, שיתקיימו מספר פעמים במהלך השנה לקראת החגים.
מסיבות וארועים: מסיבת ראש השנה, מסיבת חנוכה, מסיבת פורים, קבלת שבת, ל”ג בעומר, יום העצמאות.

Beged Kefet offers special classes for non-Hebrew speakers. The program is called Chalav u’Dvash (Milk and Honey) for kindergarten students taking their first steps in Hebrew. For beginner readers we use the Nitzanim program. During the 2018–19 school year we will offer a class for students who wish to continue and improve their language skills using the most innovative curricula Ivrit Beclick and Friends in Hebrew.
Chalav u’Dvash creates a fascinating learning environment that engages all senses, stimulating a child’s imagination and fostering a love of the Hebrew language. The instruction in the classroom is in Hebrew, adapted to the students’ understanding and fluency. We focus on conversational Hebrew. Children speak, dance, play and sing, in Hebrew, 80% of the time. Each study unit builds on those that precede it and includes the previously acquired vocabulary and patterns. The Hebrew serves as a living bridge, connecting children and their families to Israel.
Nitzanim program focuses on stories as a means of teaching the language. The stories in the Nitzanim program are about everyday life, Jewish holidays and events, which children can relate to as they are similar to their physical, social and cultural environment.
The Ivrit Beclick is an online resource for teaching the Hebrew language in the Diaspora. Central to the programs are four stages; each includes six to seven study units. This structure helps students progress gradually, from stage to stage and from unit to unit, in all language skills, with grammatical topics integrated in a natural way in the context of the various topics. Each unit starts with a short video clip depicting a situation in daily life, followed by interactive activities and games, worksheets, flashcards and other materials. This class is for incoming kindergarten students who are non-Hebrew speakers. Classes meet once a week for an hour-and-a-half. The program focuses on developing conversational Hebrew through direct instruction, games, songs and stories. Chalav u’Dvash was written for students taking their first steps in learning Hebrew, to help them develop a love for the Hebrew language, enable them to communicate with it and to invite the family to the child’s learning experience. The program includes five teacher guides, CDs, story books, flashcards, posters and games. Combining these tools helps children recall Hebrew words and create their stories in Hebrew through fun activities. The program includes celebrating Jewish holidays and Israeli culture, all in an interactive, engaging and creative environment.
Integral to the program and an active participant in class is Bentzi, a Hebrew-speaking turtle puppet from Israel. Bentzi does not speak or understand English and visits all our classes. Kids love Bentzi and this playful communication is a way to learn a new language in a fun way.
Each weekend, lucky Bentzi is invited and hosted at students’ homes, where he partakes in the kids’ family weekend activities.
Parental Partnership: The pedagogical staff operates in a systemic approach that relates to the group of children, their parents, their families and the characteristics of the community to which we belong. Communication with parents will be through several channels:
Parents’ Meeting: During the first month of the school year, a group meeting will be held during which the teacher will present the annual program and classroom culture, as well as work expectations.
Celebrations and Events: During the year there will be a number of family activities in the classroom and with the school as a whole.

This class is for incoming first, second and third graders who are non-Hebrew speakers and not yet familiar with the Hebrew alphabet. Classes meet once a week for one-and-a-half hours. Students learn the Hebrew alphabet, vowels, punctuation and reading through direct instruction, games, songs and stories. Students also learn about the Jewish holidays and Israeli culture, all through interactive and engaging activities.
The program we use is called Nitzanim, which is designed to help with the first steps of language acquisition and aims to nurture the necessary skills to do so. The program and educational principle underlying Nitzanim is the integration of innovative approaches to language teaching, including introduction of content relevant to children’s daily life, and the Jewish world around them.
In addition, emphasis will be placed on the recognition of Jewish/Israeli life and culture, holidays and events, all in an interactive, engaging and creative environment appropriate for this age group. Students and their families are invited to celebrate the Jewish holidays and Shabbat with us.
