A Public Reading of Dr. King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail
Dr. King‘s letter is a classic statement about peace, nonviolence, and social change. He wrote it while in jail and the letter has since inspired dreamers and activist all around the world for working for positive social change. Although the letter reflects Dr. King’s particular background as a Christian minister working for racial justice in the United states over 60 years ago, it contains timely and universal themes appropriate for both remembering his legacy. As we inaugurate a new president. it serves as our call to unity, love and action to make sure that these timeless values guide us into the future.
