Join Deborah Kohn for a discussion of the music and life of one of the most significant and popular American composers of all time: George Gershwin. Even though Gershwin wrote primarily for the Broadway musical theater of the 1920s and 30s, his orchestral and piano compositions, such as Rhapsody in Blue, will be highlighted to demonstrate how he blended the techniques and forms of classical music with the stylistic nuances and techniques of popular music and jazz.
Deborah Kohn was born and raised in Cleveland, OH (Home of the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame & Museum). Always there was music in her home (Classical, Jazz, and Rock ‘n Roll).
