Curriculum & Program

Beged Kefet is a community school and more – it’s a world-class leader in teaching Hebrew to both Israeli children and Hebrew as a Second Language to English speakers. We work with the most current curricula in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Israel, Center for Educational Technology (CET), Bar University Ilan and more. Classes are available for Kindergarten through High School. The Beged Kefet calendar is compatible with relevant local school district calendars as well as the Jewish calendar.

The whole is more than the sum of its parts, and in our school, the whole lies within the learning of language, enriching activities, broadening the student’s horizons through events within the community, and much more.

The curriculum of all levels in Beged Kefet was created from years of pedagogical experience and a broad vision of the student’s development throughout the school years, from preschool to high school. The program is specially adapted for the student’s needs, accompanied professionally by a pedagogical advisor and updated regularly to reflect the newest teaching techniques. In Beged Kefet, each level is a building block, working together to build the strongest foundation and mastery of the language.

Beged Kefet was established by and operates within our unique Bay Area community. Israeli and Jewish holidays and festivals are celebrated in the spirit of Judaism as a culture, including community Shabbat dinners and community activities to create an experiential connection to the Israeli culture and community.

Beged Kefet is currently recognized by WASC and the University of California A-G List, which allows us to give our high school students credit for studying a foreign language. Our high school students may advance to the Honor class level, an advantage in the college application and admissions process down the road.

Middle schoolers in Beged Kefet enjoy a unique three-year program that fosters unique educational experiences on family roots and history, social activism and community involvement, as well as Israeli culture, politics, and society – all through Hebrew language!

Asaf Levi is the head of Beged Kefet’s Foster City campus, with support of the PJCC Jewish Life Department. You can contact Asaf at begedkefet@pjcc.org with any questions or concerns, and to coordinate an evaluation test (for middle school and high school students). You may also contact the Beged Kefet headquarters at ICC@OFJCC at begedkefet@paloaltojcc.org.
